CONGRATS ANDY AND AARON!!!!! AHHH! SO EXCITING! SHE IS SO PERFFF!
Well. That moment when you realize that the accent really is everything in Spanish. This week I said, ” We just left the house of the a-holes” When i meant to say a last name, Calderon. oooppss:)
Good thing they love me here.
Well a great week really. Nothing too exciting except i freaking LOVE THE MEMBERS HERE!!!!!!!
We had a member bring us cute sandals and then other members bring us Tacos and Coca at 9:30 at night and we had a little pow wow in front of our house haha. I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
We also had an awesome FHE with some awesome other memebrs. Shes utterly insane but so nice and funny. She is the epitome of a diva. I LOVE it. She told me she cant wait to party with me when i come back and visit after the mission. LOL. They know me too well:)
We have had really good luck with finding people and really bad luck at keeping people haha. But its a process. We are supposed to have a baptism this week but for a lack of better words her mom is the worst so we will see. Agency is the worst! But i just have faith that the spirit will touch peoples hearts when Satan is working his hardest.
We had an awesome lesson with an eternal investagator named Victor. I had a very spiritual experience this week. We have an eternal investagator that comes to church every Sunday, his whole family is members, and he has read the whole Book of Mormon. However, he doesnt believe in organized religion. He used to be Christiana for a long time and it sounds like he had a bad falling out experience with that and doesnt want to join another church. We dont teach him very much just because he isnt really progressing, but the family wanted us to teach him before he left for Tijiuana for a couple weeks. We eat with the family and they help us out alot in the ward so we were more than willing to teach. We prayed for 3 days about what we should teach Victor. We came to the conclusion, to just talk and see what his views are. We never have actually just sat down and talked to him about his life story, just heard things from the Elders and his family. So thats what we did. He told us about his experiences in the Christiana church, with his job in the US, with the wife and everything. He said that alot of churches say that they are the true and only church. I didnt know this before hand– that other churches too claim to be the true church of God. I kind of questioned this in my head for a second, ” Well how do WE know that OUR church is the true church?”
He says that he likes the church and he respects us but he doesnt know if he wants to commit to anything. He said he needs more faith in things. We talked about how faith and doubt cannot exist together. To question with faith is good, so that we can find out the answers. But to doubt really means that we dont have faith and hope to learn more. When it was my turn to talk again, I started to cry. I was filled with the spirit that i KNOW that this church is true. While other churches claim to have the truth, i know that our church, The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, is the only church that has the restored gospel in its fullness. I know that we have a living prophet and that the Book of Mormon is truly the words of God. Ii just bore my testimony of this to Victor. I also explain that while some things may not always make complete sense, this is faith. The faith in Jesus Christ that everything will be okay. The hope that something good will happen. Then we need to do the action to see the result. But without a doubt, I know that we are in the right way in this life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It was a super powerful experience and I know that he felt something from us. He said that he really does enjoy learning from us and that who knows, maybe one day he will get baptized. I just hope that one day is while im still here in Insurgentes! If not, I will be super content and happy when the day comes that Victor enters the waters of baptizm and an eternal life with his family.
Everything is so good here. I love the mission. I love you all! Youre all the greatest and thanks for the support! Have a great week!
Food for Thought:
I like this quote alot:
“Some people come into our lives and go quickly, others stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same.”
it almost sounds like a cheesy love quote which is easily could be. But i just want to shout out to all the people that i love in my life. Even if we were only friends for a semester or 2 or only met for a few minutes in the JSB, every person we meet truly has an affect on us and is placed in our hearts for a reason. We learn something from everyone and we are never the same after we meet someone who really affects us. Im so glad i met the people i did in my life and have the friends and family i do. Always remember that someone is watching you. Be an example to all and always find ways to reach out and help others.
1. Taco party!
